About Us

Babylon is building native use cases for Bitcoin.
Bitcoin is an incredible store of value, but it’s historically been difficult to unlock its broader economic productivity.

Our products address this:

  • Our flagship protocol, trustless Bitcoin staking, has attracted more than $6B native BTC TVL.
  • Our new invention, trustless Bitcoin vault, allows native BTC to participate in DeFi protocols on any chain.

We're a fast-growing team of world-class researchers, engineers, and GTM operators.
Our culture is open, collaborative, and fast-moving, and we're serious about empowering individuals to shape the future of the project and the broader ecosystem.

About the Job

We’re hiring a Senior ZK-Engineer focused on SP1 development to power our trustless Bitcoin vaults and zk light-client infrastructure.

You will:

  • Design, implement, and ship SP1-based proof programs and verifiers.
  • Make key architectural decisions around how we use SP1.
  • Collaborate closely with the product team to deliver high-impact features.

R&D on garbled-circuit work is optional and comes after initial product delivery milestones.
This is an individual-contributor senior-level role.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain SP1-based zero-knowledge components supporting trustless Bitcoin vaults and zk light-client flows.
  • Own architecture for zkVM usage: circuit/program decomposition, I/O design, proving/verification pipelines, and performance budgets.
  • Deliver a zkVMs component to production within the first six months.
  • Build and support zk light-client infrastructure and integrate it into the product stack.
  • Establish testing and quality practices: property-based tests, fuzz/invariant testing, determinism checks, benchmarking, and CI.
  • Collaborate daily with the product team to scope, prioritize, and ship features end-to-end.
  • Produce clear technical documentation and operational runbooks.
  • Track relevant security/cryptography and ZK research, assess potential impact, propose mitigations/upgrades, and drive roll-forward plans.
  • Apply security measures across zkVM programs and integrations: threat modeling, constraint/program audits.

Qualifications

  • Strong proficiency in Rust.
  • Track record of shipping zero-knowledge systems or infrastructure to production.
  • Significant hands-on experience with SP1 and zkVMs.
  • Solid understanding of zkSNARK and zkSTARK systems and their trade-offs.
  • Strength in systems design and performance optimization for proving and verification paths.
  • Self-driven, collaborative, comfortable operating in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.
  • IC mindset at senior level: high ownership, high output, no people management.

Our team is remote first and we are hiring across the world. Here at Babylon Labs, you’ll be joining a world-class team with tremendous growth potential as we bring secured Bitcoin staking to the world. Supported by top venture funds like Paradigm, Polychain Capital, Bullish, Hack VC, Polygon Ventures, Framework Ventures, Castle Island Ventures, OKX Ventures, among other investment firms and strategic partners. Come join us and build the future of trustless Bitcoin staking!
