July 5 – July 18, 2025
Welcome back for our latest bi‑weekly round‑up 👋. Babylon kicked off BTCFi Summer this week by unveiling the very first wave of Bitcoin Supercharged Networks (BSNs), opening the door to a truly trustless BTC‑backed DeFi economy.
Two weeks ago, we unveiled this year’s roadmap. With multi‑staking gearing for testnet and a growing toolkit for stakers and builders, Babylon Genesis is moving fast. Whether you’re here to stake BTC, build with it, or just keep up, here’s everything that happened these past two weeks.
🔮 BTCFi Summer Begins: First Batch of BSNs Announced
Babylon Genesis revealed its inaugural cohort of BSNs (Osmosis, TAC, Union, Sui, BirdLayer, Corn, NodeOps, Plume, BOB, and Manta), each now prepping to inherit BTC security and tap into native BTC liquidity.
The rollout marks the first concrete step toward a circular, trustless Bitcoin finance stack across multiple chains.

🛠️ Faster Exits: Unbonding Window Reduced to 301 Blocks
Babylon Genesis has shortened the BTC delegation unbonding period from 1 008 blocks (~7 days) to 301 blocks (~50 hours), giving stakers near‑week‑to‑week liquidity without compromising security.
Why it matters
- Institution‑grade flexibility. Large stakers asked for quicker access to capital; now they can rotate positions in ~2 days instead of a week.
- Same slash assurance. A higher 150 k sat minimum slash fee ensures slash transactions are still picked up on Bitcoin within the shorter window.
- Future‑proof for BTCFi. Faster exits make BSNs more attractive to flow‑driven DeFi protocols and ETF issuers.
How it works
- Applies to new stakes. Any BTC staked after Proposal #12 executed on July 14 2025 inherits the 301‑block timer.
- Legacy stakes keep original terms until they’re re‑staked.
- No action needed for delegators or validators—the change is live on mainnet.
New to staking? Enjoy quicker withdrawals once your lock‑up ends.
Already staked? Your current position keeps the old timer; restake when you’re ready to switch to the faster cycle.
The upgrade is live now—check the on‑chain details in Proposal #12.

🤝 Ecosystem Momentum: Babylon in Korea
Korea’s top financial outlets spotlighted Babylon’s staked‑BTC stablecoin thesis and ETF potential, quoting co‑founder Prof. David Tse and noting $4.8 B TVL (now at $5.2B TVL!) just eight months after launch.
The coverage underscores institutional appetite for non‑custodial Bitcoin staking and BTC‑backed reward products.
🐲 The Intern Rises (But Posts Less)
Last cycle, we begged our intern: “No more full‑degen antics.”
Apparently, he took that as a sign to… stake Bitcoin and call it “work.”
So the feed went quiet. Mgmt wasn’t thrilled that he was “earning rewards” instead of earning his keep.
Highlights (or low‑lights):
- Stake > Tweet. One BTC deposit, little content shipped.
- Passive‑income flex. “If my sats are compounding, isn’t that productivity?” — Intern, probably.
- Mgmt’s verdict: “Nice rewards, kid. Now get back to memeing.”
The memes may be on cooldown, but the vibes are still immaculate.
Stay tuned (and keep him honest) at @babylonlabs_io.
🔭 Looking Ahead
With BTCFi Summer in full swing, Babylon’s focus now shifts to the next wave of milestones:
- More BSNs on the way. The inaugural cohort is just the beginning. Expect fresh integrations to join the roster as summer rolls on.
- Multi‑staking public testnet. Soon, one BTC stake will secure multiple chains, unlocking new reward strategies for holders and deeper security for BSNs.
More updates, tools, and integrations are on the way as Babylon Genesis continues toward Phase-3.
